This is a bespoke application for running the day-to-day administration of a music rehearsal and recording studio. It provides CRM functionality, room bookings, customer account management, equipment maintenance logging, shop sales, stock taking, and financial reporting.
I developed this application for Hockley Street Studios in Birmingham, a business I co-founded with my brother in 2001. The application was actively developed from 2002 to 2010, when I left the business and moved to London. Studio Manager remained in use until the business finally closed its doors in 2018.
Studio Manager grew and evolved over the years that the studio operated. The turnaround for new features was fast, and the feedback from front-of-house staff, and from customers, was almost immediate.
I was an end-user of the system myself on a daily basis, and I found it made the running of the business smooth and efficient.
The original version was a Visual Basic application embedded in a Microsoft Access database. The later version was a desktop Java application.
This application is no longer maintained or available for use, though I do plan to create a web-based version in the near future.
